A school homecoming dance can be casual, but these days it’s more like a fall prom so the dress code is usually formal. Also, prom is for juniors and seniors while homecoming is a dance that is open to all grades in high school.
Homecoming occasion dresses are usually short and more fitted, but how do you pick what’s right for you? The most popular styles are the following.
Feathers and Fringe
First you’ll need to pick your style and then, more importantly, you’ll need to pick a color that’s right for you. Warmer skin tones usually go with shades like reds and golds, while cooler tones go with silvers and blues. And neutral skin tones can go with any color dress.
Also, keep in mind that the shape of your figure will also help you determine the style of dress. A girl with an apple figure will look great in an empire waist and one with a full skirt. An hourglass figure will look best in a cinched waist and a more open neckline. A pear shaped girl will look best in an A-line dress. A girl who is more athletic will have broader shoulders so she too will look good in an A-line dress or one that is embellished towards the middle. A petite girl should find a dress with vertical prints and/or pleats to help elongate the legs.
